A Collection of 23 Amazing and Free Fonts from Behance

I wanted to welcome the New Year by bringing about a collection of amazing fonts from fellow designers.

I personally love browsing Behance and finding freebies, so I figured I would create a list of amazing free fonts that the can be found there. Most of these fonts have been created in 2013, some a little before that.

However, I want to make sure you all have a wonderful collection of fonts to kick off your projects in the New Year.

Free Fonts from Behance

Alegreya

I have chosen this font because it is a little different then most other popular choices today. It is a serif font with a touch of personality; it literally has curves and rounded edges, which is different. It is a very sophisticated, modern font.

Comic Serif Pro

Once more we have a serif font that is not made out of straight lines and well cut angles. This font is supposed to be an alternative to Comic Sans, actually. I picked it because it was comical and I’m sure it would be wonderful in a children’s illustration.

Born

What I like about this serif font is that it is has very clean lines, and it is very simple. I also enjoy this Behance project because you can see how the designer created the font; it’s always nice to see the thought process behind any artist’s work.

Esqadero

Most fonts out there are about the Latin alphabets – even this one. However, Esqadero’s main focus was actually for the Cyrillic alphabet. Don’t get me wrong; it still looks really good in Latin characters. But, the Cyrillic letters too look so damn good!

Verano

Like the image in this font’s accommodating picture suggest, I find this font to have a free spirit of sorts. Because this is a hand written san serif, it has a sense of playfulness to it. I do think it looks like it belongs on an indie CD or movie poster, for sure.

Salome

This font face is definitely sophisticated and classy. It has a very high-end look to it.  I love the curved letters, and the numbers too look great; the font is very sexy and elegant. I’d love to see this font in action on some high-end editorial spread.

Flex

What I like the most about this font is the lack of perfectly straight lines. It is a thin font face, which is all the trend now, but the lines have a slight curvature to them giving this font some personality.

Canter

This font is very interesting. It has SO MANY different weights, so many different looks. This is one diverse font. You can create so many different looks with just this font face alone; it’s incredible!

Biko

Although this is not a typical high-end font, I do think this typeface is at least a tad fancy. It comes in a wide range of weights, which I think is fantastic as it looks extremely good as a thin font and as a thick one.

Parqa

Parqa is such a unique and eclectic font. It is in fact still very legible, and it has the style of a typical modern san serif font. But, it takes typography to the next level by having various yet fun decorations and embellishments within the lettering.

Aleo

Aleo has been designed to compliment the font Lato by Lukasz Dziedzic. It comes in three weights which all look good, of course. It is a really simple but nice serif font and it does in fact work very well along side Lato.

Lovelo Inline

Lovelo Inline is another simple san serif font but it takes the modern lines into a new level. It comes in three weights, which provide for three different font types. This font face is diverse, interesting and beautiful, which is why I chose to include it in this collection.

Zwodrei

This font, Zwrodrei, is one of my favorites; it is a slightly complex san serif as it is a little more elaborate then most on this list. The way some of the edges of the letters are designed is really interesting and something else.

Nexa

I think this is a well know font actually – used all over the place by fellow designers. And who can blame them; this is a very good-looking san serif that looks extremely well in uppercase.

Bariol

I felt this collection could use a rounded font and this is the one. I find rounded typefaces to be an increasing trend especially in blogs now a days. What I enjoy about Brystol specifically is the simplicity of the characters; there are straight lines of a rounded font and that’s it – no shenanigans.

Dense

I must say this is a font face definitely meant for a higher end designs. The long uppercase letters just come off more sophisticated then a typical, plain san serif. Of course there are lowercase letters included in this font as well as three different weights to make for incredible typographical combinations.

Mohave

Here we have another all caps typefaces with a slight old-world feel. Like a lot of fonts on this list, this one comes in three different weights too. What I enjoy the most about it is its punctuation character design. It’s a little different then most making the punctuation marks unique and interesting.

Higher

Oh, just talk about a fancy font. I must say this is a very elegant and bold typeface, actually. It was created by a student for a class project and I’ve seen it grasp some wind within the design community. Talk about amazing, huh?

Oslo

Another clean and simple san serif font we have here. Overall, the font seems nice and typical but I really like the design of the letters k, f and g. They make the font different, unique and interesting, which is all a font ever needs to be.

Tracks

I chose to include this font face in this collection because it was something else. As usual, the typeface is neat and clean but the way the lines are made it gives this font interest. The angular, asymmetric use of lines here was a bold but great choice in designing this font.

Flagship

One more rounded font face in our list. This time however, it is a serif font, more specifically a slab serif. It does have this old style to it, which would look so good in retro designs.

Chelsea

Almost at the end, this font face is very slick and fashionable. There is not a lot going on, but it does have interesting uses of curves such as in the letters f or r.

Corduroy

Last but not least, we have heavy slab serif fonts that was designed to make for strong and bold headlines. It definitely has a look of a modern take on western style typography.

Conclusion

So there you have it, a pretty good-sized collection of fonts made by your fellow designers and publish on Behance. I urge use to use them in your work and share it with the font owners and us in the comments! I always love to see what you are making :)
